Acton, based in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, is a small residential community located in Los Angeles County with a population of about 8,000. The town itself is 50 miles north of downtown Los Angeles and roughly 20 miles northeast of the San Fernando Valley. Acton, grouped together with the “AV” in the General Plan, is located off the Antelope Valley Freeway near Palmdale. Furthermore, a rural western theme permeates the town which is prevalent in its homes, commercial buildings, and even the historical buildings.
